God is Faithful

When our dog Cooper sits super tall at our feet with his ears as high as they will go even if he's just begging for food we will use the phrase "oh Coop, so faithful". I'm just using this example to say that I can use the word faithful a little bit outside of its true meaning. Is my dog faithful to me, well the majority of the time...yes, but if you know a golden retriever they'll cling to where the most attention and food is at the parties.

We hear the phrase "Trust the faithfulness of God", but what IS the faithfulness of God?

2 Thessalonians 3:3

But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.

I love how directly this verse states the Lord is faithful. That's just who He is! We look in God's word and there are verses reminding us to look back and see God's faithfulness to the generation before (Deut. 7:9). I want to encourage you to write down in a journal where you've seen God's faithfulness displayed! When we are in the depths and you start to doubt God's goodness and if He is truly faithful we can look back and see the evidence of his faithfulness.

I was digging through past entries in my journal and I ran across a brainstorm of what does it really mean that God is faithful?? Here's what I had written down. Maybe it will spark your own brainstorm to the faithfulness of God in your life.

  • Trustworthy

  • Never will let me down

  • Looks after me

  • Faithful in temptation (1 Cor. 10:13)

  • Faithful in weakness (2 Thes. 3:3)

  • Faithful in suffering (1 Peter 4:19)

  • Faithful even in our sin (1 John 1:9)

  • Faithful regardless if I am

  • Always keeps his promises

  • God can never be defeated

  • Faithful to plans and purposes

  • Enables us to do what he calls us to do

  • Faithful in forgiveness

  • Steadfast & unchanging

  • Sustainer (Lam 3:22-23)

  • Always hears

Even in my failures, God is still there. Even in the bad things, God is still for me. He is unmoving and never more distant than he was yesterday. (If he feels more distant it's my heart that moves, not His!) God IS Faithful. Yesterday, today, forever.

Deuteronomy 7:9 NKJV

"Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

Psalm 100:5 NKJV

For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.
