Made to change

Our God is unchanging. He's the "I AM", the Rock, the steadfast One, He always remains the same.

Verses that reflect our unchanging or "Immutable" God: Psalm 19:14, Psalm 33:11, Psalm 90:2, Psalm 102:27, Malachi 3:6, Hebrews 13:8, James 1:17

I wanted to start this with the realization of how different we are in this area to our God. While God is unchanging and forever steadfast our lives are meant to be always changing.

I heard the phrase the other day "we are made to change". It made me pause because typically my brain sees change as the bad guy, but obviously our lives change in so many ways all the time whether it's for the good or bad things are constantly in change- from physical body changes, routines, opinions, circumstances, etc.

As believers in Christ we are supposed to change and grow in sanctification. We aren't meant to stay in our sinful ways, there is a great change we can have through the power of the Spirit. We are made to change!

While we are on the subject of change...

Sometimes change can be hard, scary, unwanted, unpredictable. Our human existence is described in the Bible as a vapor - can change in instant. This can sometimes drive us to be obsessed in controlling what we have around us and cling to "rocks" in our human understanding of security (example: money, spouse, friends...) when our only true security and foundation is found in God alone.

"There is an untold number of things that we set up as idols in our hearts, and we yearn for them to fulfill the longing in our souls. But there is only one who ever will, and that is our immutable and unchangable God. He is a rock when everything around us is shifting and shaking (Psalm 18:2). He is our God. He is our immutable refuge."

-The Daily Grace Co

If the winds of change have been shifting and blowing you over recently cling to your Rock today. He's trustworthy and able to take the weight off your shoulders. Hand it over, it's not mean to be carried alone.
